Read John 7:25-52
1) John names several characters within the story:

• The crowd of people in Jerusalem
• The Leaders, scribes, priests, and Pharisees
• Jesus
• The Temple Guards
• Nicodemus
• Which of these characters do you find your eyes drawn to? Why?
• Which of the characters do you most identify with?

2) The Feast of the Tabernacles was proscribed by God in Leviticus, as a way to recall God’s faithfulness to His people in their Exodus, and as a current witness that God could be counted on for the journey of his people in that moment. What Feasts/festivals/traditions do you practice where you recall God’s faithfulness in the past, and express a trust on God’s character for the future?
3) The central point of this text is Jesus’ claim in 7.37-39. Read this text again. Then read Isaiah 55.1-3, and Ezekiel 47.1-11. How is Jesus fulfilling the promises of God given to the prophets? How does Jesus’ work, along with the Holy Spirit touch you today? Does the promise of water stop with you, or does it flow in and through you to others?
