Opening Questions
- What stood out to you in the sermon?
- What insights did you gain?
- What questions did it raise?
John 1:6-18
- John the Baptist was a “witness to the light”. The depiction of John centers on who sent him God, and his task – to witness to Jesus. Have you ever sensed that God is sending you with a particular purpose?
- Read Mark 12.1-12– the parable of the vineyard. Jesus knew there were those who were rejecting him. Some rejected for power, others because they thought he wasn’t faithful to the laws of Moses. Do you hear people rejecting Jesus today? On what grounds?
- Anne Rice described herself as “Christ haunted” until she received Jesus. Have you ever experienced that notion? What did receiving Jesus look like for you? What was the experience like? How does that experience shape how you witness to Jesus in your sphere?
- Twice John says that Jesus revealed God as full of “unfailing love and faithfulness”. What does this depiction of God in Jesus do for your soul?
