Read John 11:1-16

The Silence of Jesus | John 11:6 “He stayed where he was two more days.”
  • Why do you think Jesus delayed going to Bethany, even though He loved Lazarus and his sisters?
  • How do you usually respond when God seems slow or silent? Fear, frustration, doubt, trust?

2 Corinthians 12:7-10
  • Put yourself in Paul’s shoes. How would you feel if God hadn’t removed the “thorn”?
  • What does it mean that God said, “My grace is sufficient for you”?
  • How does weakness and dependence actually draw us closer to God?

Contract or Covenant
  • How would you describe the difference between a contractual and covenantal view of God?
  • What might “contractual” faith look like in everyday life?
  • How does understanding your relationship with God as covenantal change the way you see suffering or silence?

The Cross as the Constant
  • Why is it so easy to measure God’s goodness based on our individual circumstances?
  • How can we re-center our hearts on the cross when life feels dark or confusing?
