Gathering Question:
What is one way you’ve experienced God in your life this week?
Gathering Prayer

Opening Questions
What stood out to you in the sermon?
What insights did you gain?
What questions did it raise?
Read John 12:12-19
Read 1 Corinthians 13 – especially verses 11 &12.
How has the Lord brought things into clarity the longer you’ve walked with him? What are you still waiting to be made clear?
John Wesley said, “The design of God’s providential dispensations is seldom understood at first. We ought therefore to believe, though we do not understand, and to give ourselves to the Divine disposal. The great work of faith is to embrace things we know not, but shall know.” (Notes on the NT)

Read John 12:12-19
- In this passage, Jesus doesn’t speak a word. What do you imagine Jesus was thinking?
- John says that many in the crowd had been there when Jesus raised Lazarus, and they could not keep quiet about it. What have you seen Jesus do that you cannot keep silent about? What has God done that you find yourself sharing with others?
- John says that in riding on the donkey’s colt, Jesus fulfills a prophecy. How does the text of the Old Testament speak and describe Jesus to you? Do you anticipate meeting Jesus there? Why or why not?
- The crowd cheers for the coming of the King. What are the expectations you have of Jesus’ role as King? What does the saying Christ is King mean to you?
- The disciples “didn’t understand” until Jesus had entered his glory. What does this say to you?
