Christmas at Schweitzer Church is an extraordinarily special time
We have many different ways for you to celebrate the season with us! Click on any of the events on the calendar to learn more!
During this Advent season, we continue our yearlong journey through the Gospel of John as we turn to John 12.
Our series up to this point has taken us through the ministry of Jesus. We’ve heard his teaching, witnessed his miracles, and seen the growing tension as his claim to be the Messiah, the Son of God, and the Savior of the World comes into greater focus.
In chapter 12, the story takes a turn. From this point through chapter 19, John slows the pace to tell us about one week in Jesus’ life: his final week. It begins with Jesus entering Jerusalem, celebrated as King (John 12), and ends with the King of kings taking his last breath on the cross (John 19). It will take us from now until the end of March to walk with Jesus through these final days.
Of course, this final week gives way to a new week. As dawn breaks on the first day of a new week, death gives way to resurrection. Defeat turns into victory. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
During Advent, we might expect to read about things like the glory of God showing up to some shepherds in a field. Instead, we’ll be reading about how The Good Shepherd has come to show us his glory and be given as a gift for us all.
Advent is a time of waiting. It’s a time of wonder. It’s a time to see the light that shines in the darkness. As we journey through Advent, reading John 12, we remember that the coming of Jesus is not only a story from long ago.
The King still comes. The Light still shines.
God is Faithful.

looking to Volunteer?
There are tons of opportunities to volunteer at Schweitzer this holiday season. In particular, we need a lot of hands to pull off our Christmas Eve services! Click the link below to sign up to volunteer. We appreciate your help!
Christmas Eve

Each service includes Christmas music, prayer, a message, and candle lighting. This year, we will have four services at 1 PM, 3 PM, 5 PM, and 7 PM in the Sanctuary.
Carols of Christmas

Musicians and vocalists from our traditional and modern worship services will join together to celebrate the story of Jesus' birth! All three services (at the regular Sunday morning times) will be identical.
Longest Night Service

While the holidays can be full of cheer, they can sometimes be a time of grief or hard times. On the Winter Solstice, December 21, at 5 PM, this service will be filled with prayer, quieter songs of the season, and candlelight.
ALl-Church Caroling

Join us for an afternoon of Christmas Caroling at various locations around the city. All ages will enjoy this special event! We will meet in the Student Center at the church at 3:30pm and return around 5:30pm for supper, hot chocolate, and cookies!
Christmas Market

Come shop for new Christmas Gifts for your kids on December 12! You'll receive five or more gifts for $15 per child, with all of the proceeds going back to local schools! Childcare and hot cocoa will be provided.
Ladies Christmas Tea

Join us on December 6, 10:00 AM, in Memorial Hall for a fun event where you can dress up (or not), enjoy a fine-dining-style party, a full table of food and treats, and engage in a Silent Auction that will benefit Flourish Girls ministry.
