Opening Questions:
- What stood out to you from today's sermon?
- Have you ever thought about spiritual gifts as a continuation of Jesus' work? How does that change your perspective on their purpose?
1 Corinthians 12:7-14
- Spiritual gifts are given "to each one" for the common good. What are some common misconceptions about spiritual gifts that are challenged by this truth?
- What does it mean to you to be a member of the body of Christ?
1 Corinthians 12:15-31
- “Now if the foot should say, ‘Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,’ it would not for that reason stop being part of the body.” Has there been a time when you’ve felt this? Are there gifts that you wish you had?
- Reflect on Matthew 14:16-18. If we apply this to spiritual gifts (not just bread and fish), what would this teach us about spiritual gifts?
1 Corinthians 13:1-13
- How does love serve as the foundation for our gifts?
- How does a focus on love overcome our “gift envy”?
Put this Into Practice
- Do you feel like you have an understanding of your gifts…or are you unsure?
- If we shift our focus on spiritual gifts to love of the Body and service to others, how might God be calling you to use your gifts?
